The Unsteady Transonic Delta Program (UTDP), an ongoing cooperative U.S.-Dutch211u001eprogram of research between Lockhead Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems, Fort 211u001eWorth, Texas, USA and the National Aircraft Systems, Fort Worth, Texas, USA and 211u001ethe National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR), Amsterdam, the Netherlands, focuses on 211u001etwo closely related areas: Limit Cycle Oscillations (LCO) on a realistic fighter 211u001econfiguration and unsteady transonic flows about a simple straked delta wing. As 211u001epart of this program a wind tunnel visualization test on a highly instrumeted 211u001esemi-span straked delta wing model was conducted in NLR's High Speed Tunnel in 211u001eAugust 1996. Flow visualization was conducted using a vapor screen technique with 211u001emultiple laser light sheet positions, highlighting flow field characteristics 211u001eassociated with Limit Cycle Oscillations and high incidence shock/vortx 211u001einteractions and flow breakdown.
