In this paper, the authors discuss the reconstruction of the conductivity in a211u001ethree-dimensional domain between two boreholds. The electric current density 211u001eintegral equation will be taken as point of departure to develop a nonlinear 211u001einversion scheme based on a new inversion method, the so-called Contrast Source 211u001eInversion method (CSI). The CSI method considers the inverse scattering problem 211u001eas an inverse source problem in which the unknown contrast sources in the object 211u001edomain are reconstructed by minimizing the object and data error using a 211u001econjugate graident step after which the constrast is updated by minimizing only 211u001ethe error in the object. The robustness and the abilities of this full-vector 211u001ethree-dimensional inversion method has been demonstrated with a number of 211u001enumerical examples where the synthetic 'measured' data used were generated by 211u001esolving a direct scattering problem using the Conjugate Gradient FFT method.
