Of the two phases in glass production, namely pressing phase and blowing phase,211u001ethis study will be concerned with glass flow in the pressing phase. At 211u001etemperatures above 600oC, one can consider glass flow as a highly viscous 211u001eNewtonian fluid. The using Stokes' equation in cylindrical coordinates in a 211u001eslowly varying geometry, the profile of velocity and pressure is determined and 211u001ecompared with a fully numerical method, Two cases are considered, namely a 211u001estationary and a moving plunger. The result shows that there is a good agreement 211u001ebetween the approximate analytical solution and the numerical solution. Then the 211u001eformula of velocity and pressure is applied to find the total force on the 211u001eplunger.
