Computational grids are used for the discretization of partial differential211u001eequations (PDE's) such that solution of the resulting system of algebraic 211u001eequations for the discrete values of the dependent variables provides an 211u001eapproximation to the solution of the system of PDE's. When the discretization of 211u001ethe partial differential equations (PDE's) is fixed, it is the local distribution 211u001eof grid points, in terms of density and smoothness, that determines the accuracy 211u001eof the numerical solution. The present thesis deals with adoption of so-called 211u001esingle-block structured grids with a fixed number of grid points, as a tool to 211u001eprovide automatic control over the distribution of these grid points.
