The Swedish defense policy is partly built on the capability to adjust to changesin the security situation. In order to explore the possibilities for achieving adaptive capability, especially in terms of securing access to defense materials, the paper describes and analyzes six collaborative armaments programs. These case-studies, combined with a theoretical framework, provide the basis for a global analysis of the problem-complex. The Background outlines the Sweidsh defense policy, various categories of defense materials and adaptation strategies. It further covers some fundaments of collaboration; organizations, underlying drivers etc. The first part concludes with a preliminary framework for analyses. The Case-study part describes six, mainly European, collaborative projects: NH-90, Eurofighter, Horizon, TFC, FLA and JSF. The report ends with an Analysis and conclusions part, focusing on comparing various aspects of the case-study findings in accordance with the evaluation model developed in the background part.
