A greatly expanded discussion of loblolly pine genetics and breeding is presented in this manuscrip. Schultz devotes an entire chapter to site preparation for artificial regeneration, a subject little understood in 1960, Up-to-date information about growth and yield, resource inventory, and plantation and natural stand management is presented. Nontimber values of loblolly pine for wildlife, grazing, watershed protection, and rehabilitation of degraded lands receive considerable emphasis. The volume also includes an entire chapter on the international importance of loblolly pine, an area of interst likely to grow still more.
