Cultural Resource Inventory of the Priest Gulch Bridge Replacement Area, ColoradoForest Highway 1 (Colorado State Route 145), Montezuma County, Colorado

A cultural resource inventory was conducted in the area of impact for a pavementrehabilitation project and the replacement of a concrete deck bridge over Priest Gulch near the Dolores River in Montezuma County, Colorado. A total area of the project is less than 1,300 square meters (0.333 acre)/The area has been extensively disurbed during road and earlier bridge construction projects. A single prehistoric isolated find (5MT13040) was located in a heavily bioturbated area to the northwest of the bridge. No other cultural materials or features were identified in the area of impact. The circa 1955 concrete deck bridge is not believed to be eligible for the State or National Register of Historic Places. No further archaeological investigations are recommended.
