摘要

This Participant Guide is a product of an inter-agency effort initiated by the211u001eCenter for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), Rockville, MD and the Centers for 211u001eDisease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta GA. This guide has been developed 211u001eto assist participants to effectively utilize this 'cross-training' workshop 211u001ealong with colleagues in the alcohol and other drug abuse treatment and public 211u001ehealth arenas. The term 'cross-training' does not imply that this workshop will 211u001etrain individuals to do somebody else's work. Rather, critical information and 211u001eskill are being presented to help participants respond to the inter-related 211u001ehealth and behavior problems of patients and clients seeking alcohol and other 211u001edrug abuse treatment and/or public health services (sexually transmitted disease, 211u001eHIV, tuberculosis, hepatitis, etc.). It became obvious that a training workshop 211u001ewould be a useful strategy for gaining knowledge, improving skills and increasing 211u001esensitivities for counselors and disease intervention specialists as they respond 211u001eto the inter-related health and behavior problems of patients and clients seeking 211u001eservices.
