Light rail transit (LRT) signal priority strategies are often considered LRT211u001evehicle delay reduction tools. The purpose of this research is to develop and 211u001eevaluate LRT signal priority strategies to determine which strategies are most 211u001elikely to produce significant delay reductions. A simulated median running LRT 211u001eroute in Austin, Texas is used for this case study. Both active and passive 211u001epriority strategies are simulated using CORSIM with a Run-Time Extension (RTE). 211u001eThe RTE is used to provide the active priority signal timing changes associated 211u001ewith a green signal extension for the LRT phase. The results indicate that 211u001epassive priority strategies are more effective in reducing delay. Among the 211u001epassive methods, prohibition of left turns across the LRT tracks and one-way 211u001eprogression segmented to account for stops at LRT stations yield the best 211u001eresults.
