Maternal Psychosocial Factors and Use of Well-Child Care

This study analyzed prenatal data on maternal psychosocial factors (maternaldepressive symptoms and exposure stressors) and the use of prenatal care to determine whether information collected during the prenatal care to determine whether information collected during the prenatal period could be used for early identification of children at increased risk for inadequate prenatal care. The sample for this prospective, epidemiological cohort study consisted of 738 urban African-American women and children of low-income status (all of whom were enrolled in a prior study conducted by the principal investigator).
