The availability techniques for human brain mapping are largely complementary innature; while positron emission tomography (PET) and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) allow identification of brain areas active during certain tasks, electroencephalography (EEG) is employed as a tool for routing evaluation of the overall neuronal reactivity, and magnetoencephalography (MEG) focuses on the spatiotemporal dynamics of cortical information processing by providing quantitative measures of the activation strengths as a function of time. The aim of this study was (1) to develop methods to visualize and characterize the frequency content of oscillatory MEG signals and (2) to learn about the human occipital and parietal visual areas by recording their responses to various stimuli and by following the information transfer between them.
