Using the MTCSupport System for Monitoring: A Guide for Field Office Staff

The Multifamily Tenant Characteristic System (MTCS) contains occupancyinformation for families participating in public and Indian housing programs including: conventional public housing; the Section 8 Certificate, Voucher, and Moderate Rehabilitation programs; and for Native American programs, Indian Housing and Mutual Help. MCTS contains demographic information about each assisted family as well as size, rent, and utility information about the unit each family occupies. MCTSupport is a module of MTCS that generates standard reports using information contained in the MTCS and other departmental systems. MTCSupport is used by HUD Field Offices to Assess housing agency performance, plan monitoring workloads, identify problems, respond to public inquiries; and estimate impact of potential policy changes. This guide book provides an overview of MTCSupport functions and how to develop summary, new admissions, occupancy, Section 8, and individual family reports. Each report section provides a sample report, describes how to access the reports, and illustrates how the reports can be used to assess housing agency performance.
