Across our nation, law enforcement officials and private citizens have embracedcommunity policing by creating partnerships that address local needs through innovative problem-solving strategies. The result: safer streets, less fear and a better quality of life for everyone. This connection between problem solving and partnerships is the focus of the School-Based Partnerships application. Crime reduction measures are more effective when the two concepts are integrally linked. Problem solving that doesn't involve community partnerships often results in the wrong focus for scarce police resources, and partnerships that lack a problem-solving focus will not significantly reduce crime.
