Working Together to Improve Mobility in the National Capital Region

On May 28, 1998, the leaders of the National Capital Region came together to211u001ediscuss their issues and concerns about transportation. As a follow up to this 211u001eNational Capital Region Congestion and Mobility Summit, Secretary of 211u001eTransportation Rodney Slater started a process that would culminate in a 211u001eTransportation Partnership Strategy for the region. This process that developed 211u001ethe Transportation Partnership Strategy continued the dialog that occurred at the 211u001esummit and has been occurring in other forums. Secretary Slater established three 211u001egoals for the process: first, to gain a deeper understanding of the congestion 211u001eand mobility issues facing our region; second, to explore and assess the most 211u001eeffective options to address these issues; and, third, to develop a 211u001eTransportation Partnership Strategy, based upon effective partnerships within the 211u001eregion.
