Report to Congress on U.S. Maritime Policy. FY 1996-FY 2000

Section 14 of the Maritime Security Act of 1996 (the Act) requires the Department211u001eof Transportation (DOT) to prepare a report on implementation of its maritime 211u001epolicies during FY 1996-2000. This report discusses how Federal maritime programs 211u001ethat have been developed to promote a strong U. S. maritime industry and to 211u001efoster an efficient transportation system nationwide are helping to meet each of 211u001ethe objectives identified by Congress in the Act, and identifies DOT's maritime 211u001epolicy focus through the year 2000.
