Test Plan: TTIS (Traveler and Tourist Information System) Tourist Intercept211 Survey

This document is part of a series of planning documents for the evaluation of211u001eField Operational Tests of Traveler Information Services in Rural Tourism Areas 211u001e(Branson TRIP and I-40 TTIS) prepared by Battelle, along with subcontractors BRW 211u001eIncorporated and CJI Research, for the U.S. Department of Transportations ITS 211u001eJoint Program Office (DOT/JPO). As part of the overall evaluation, several tests 211u001ehave been planned. This document serves as a detailed test plan for one such 211u001etest: tourist surveys. Section 2.0 presents an overview of the approach, and the 211u001eremaining sections present specific details for implementing the approach. The 211u001eintercept surveys are designed to obtain specific information on each of the five 211u001ecentral evaluation objectives (mobility, access, congestion, economic impact, and 211u001esafety). For example, the survey will obtain from tourists measures of the 211u001eperceived ease of travel (mobility), trip times (mobility), awareness of travel 211u001eoptions (access), the perceived number and duration of delays (congestion), 211u001eintent to return (economic impact), and perceived improvements to safety 211u001e(safety). The questionnaires that will be used are included.
