摘要

The Atlanta metropolitan region was the location of one of the most ambitious211u001eIntelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) deployments in the United States. This 211u001edeployment included several individual projects--a Central Transportation 211u001eManagement Center (TMC), six Traffic Control Centers (TCCs), one Transit 211u001eInformation Center (TIC), The Travel Information Showcase (TIS), and the 211u001eextension of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Rail 211u001enetwork and the new high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes on I-85 and I-75. The 1996 211u001eAtlanta Centennial Olympic Games and Paralympic Games created a focus for these 211u001eprojects. All of these systems were to be brought on-line in time for the Olympic 211u001eGames. This report presents the findings of the 1996 Olympic and Paralympic Games 211u001eEvents Study--a compilation of findings of system performance, the benefits 211u001erealized, and the lessons learned during their operations over the event period. 211u001eThe study assessed the performance of the various Travel Demand Management (TDM) 211u001eplans employed for Olympic Games traffic management.
