SAB Report: Review of the RfC Methods Case Studies. Review of Case Studies211 Associated with the Document Methods for Derivation of Inhalation Reference 211 Concentrations and Application of Inhalation Dosimetry (EPA/600/8-90/066F)

The Environmental Health Committee (EHC) reviewed the EPA's Inhalation Reference211u001eConcentration (RFC) Methods Case Studies for selected chemicals. The Committee 211u001ecommends the Agency's efforts to demonstrate the application of the dosimetric 211u001eadjustments and to illustrate the methodology. The EHC found the concepts and 211u001eapplication of the RFC methodology to be articulated clearly in some of the case 211u001estudies and unclear in others. Similarly, the Committee concurred with the 211u001ederivation of the RFC in some case studies and had concerns about the derivation 211u001ein others. The same findings also held for the IRIS Summaries. For some fo the 211u001ecase studies, there was a difference in opinion amongst the EHC regarding the 211u001eclarity of the documents, the derivation of the RFC and/or the comprehensiveness 211u001eof the summary.
