摘要

The authors evaluated the success of relocating gray partridge (Perdix perdix)211u001efrom eastern Wisconsin to a 15 square mile area of privately owned agricultural 211u001eland in north-central Wisconsin with habitat enhanced through the efforts of 211u001elocal conservation clubs (sportsclubs). The Wisconsin Department of Natural 211u001eResources (DNR) played a minimal role, providing technical advice to sportsclubs, 211u001ecoordinating trapping and release operations, monitoring habitat improvements, 211u001eand helping track partridge populations. Sportsclubs provided funding for 211u001etrapping operations, assisted with trapping and releasing birds, provided free 211u001eseed for winter food plots, recruited and worked with landowners to create needed 211u001ehabitat and winter food resources and collected partridge observations. Landowner 211u001emeetings, slide presentations, fibers, posters, and newsletters were used as 211u001einformational and publicity tools. The overall project goal was to see what 211u001esportsclubs could accomplish on their own with the incentive of stocked birds and 211u001eminor involvement from the DNR.
