Energy Deregulation: Status of Natural Gas Customer Choice Programs

As requested, we are providing information on (1) initial participation in211u001ecustomer choice programs and (2) the effect of these recent customer choice 211u001einitiatives on residential and small commercial consumers. In order to respond to 211u001ethese requests, we conducted a survey of gas utilities that had customer choice 211u001eprograms under way as of July 31, 1998. In addition, we interviewed and gathered 211u001einformation from state regulators, gas utility representatives and gas marketers.
