Site Preparation Treatments and Browse Protection Affect Establishment and Growthof Northern White-Cedar

The results of this study support the need for harvesting techniques thatintegrate the requirement of northern white-cedar for open growing conditions and protection from browing. Germination and initial establishment of northern white-cedar to not seem limiting on clearcut areas. To obtain the maximum amount of northern white-cedar regeneration most efficiently, full-tree skidding without treating residual slash can be recommended.
