New Bolted Connection Design Formulae for G550 and G300 Sheet Steels Less than1.0MM Thick

Test results from the first phase of this study (Rogers and Hancock, 1996,1997a,b) reveal that the ability of G550 sheet steels to undergo deformation is dependent on the direction of load within the plane of the sheet, where transverse specimens exhibit the least amount of overall, local and uniform elongation. The G550 sheet steels the Dhalla and Winter (1074b) elongation and ultimate strength to yield stress ratio requirements regardless of direction, except for the uniform elongation of longitudinal coupon specimens.
