This report is designed to help law enforcement administrators and officers211u001eunderstand and institute a strategy to help prevent violence-community-oriented 211u001epolicing services carried out in collaboration with youth-serving organizations. 211u001ePopular police prevention approaches such as D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance 211u001eEducation), G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance Education and Training), and the McGruff 211u001eTake a Bite out of Crime campaigns have helped prepare police officers to work 211u001ehand in hand in a variety of ways with local affiliates of national youth-serving 211u001eorganizations. In a growing number of cities, police are working with youth 211u001egroups and finding that violence involving youth is rapidly decreasing. Some of 211u001ethese approaches are detailed.
