Randomized Trial of a Systematic Implementation of an Advance Directive Program211 in Six Nursing Homes, Abstract, Executive Summary and Final Report

We examined the effect of systematic implementation of the Let Me Decide (LMD)211u001eadvance directive on patient and family satisfaction with involvement in decision-211u001emaking and on health care resource expenditure in six Ontario nursing homes. One 211u001eHome in each pair was randomized to receive the LMD program where competent 211u001eresidents of families of incompetent residents completed LMD. Patients and 211u001efamilies completed satisfaction questionnaires and health care costs were 211u001ecollected.
