The operational performance of the current Spallation Neutron Sources and their211u001epossible upgrades are described. The new sources proposed, including the European 211u001eSpallation Source, the Oak Ridge SNS and the Japanese proposals are reviewed. The 211u001edifferences in the designs of the accelerators and the methods used to control 211u001ebeam loss are highlighted.
