Experimental Studies on Pulp and Paper Mill Sludge Ash Behavior in Fluidized Bed211 Combustors

Ash formation during the fluidized bed combustion (FBC) of pulp and paper mill211u001esludges has been experimentally studied on an industrial and bench scale. The 211u001emethods included aerosol measurements, chemical and crystalline composition 211u001eanalyses, thermogravimetry and electron microscopy. Fly ash mass and number size 211u001edistributions and elemental enrichment in submicron particles and bottom ash were 211u001emeasured. Fly ash, bottom ash and ash deposits were characterized and their 211u001eformation mechanisms are discussed.
