摘要

This report examines the prevalence of school-to-work practices in a largerepresentative sample of American high schools. The data are taken from the Survey of School Administrators, part of the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY), which was fielded in the fall of 1996. A total of 5,295 high schools returned questionnaires, containing a battery of questions on the availability of school-to-work programs, broadly defined. This report, commissioned by the National School-to-Work Office, provides evidence that the School-to-Work Opportunities Act (STWOA) is helping to foster significant reform in the delivery of curriculum to students, and is promoting school-to-work practices in American high schools. Except when noted, the percentages reported here refer to the proportion of schools offering activities and are neither proxies for or measures of the number of students who actually participate in these activities.
