Production of Antibodies to New Craniofacial Genes Relevant to Anomalies and Oral211 Cancer

The research and development contract has produced a series of antibodies to211u001ecraniofacial genes potentially relevant to embryonic development, anomalies, and 211u001eoral cancer, including interesting novel genes. It has also provided valuable 211u001einformation about the efficiency of the approach of high-throughput production of 211u001eantibodies as part of a genome screening project to identify novel genes 211u001enecessary for normal development. It has identified some important requirements 211u001eand potential pitfalls for future projects in this area, particularly the 211u001eimportance of re-sequencing, clone size, proteolytic degradation, pre-screening 211u001eof rabbits before antibody production, availability of peptide antigen 211u001eapproaches, and the importance of readily available PI expertise in the area. A 211u001enumber of useful antibodies was produced, and the experience and knowledge gained 211u001eabout the use these approaches will be invaluable for future programs.
