Characterization of Thermally Altered Materials from the Rocky Mountain 1211 Underground Coal Gasification Field Test in Wyoming. Topical Report

This report address the approach and methodology developed for the physical,211u001echemical, and mineralogical characterization of the thermally altered materials 211u001efrom the Rocky Mountain 1 underground coal gasification (RM1 UCG) test as well as 211u001ethe occurrence, character, and distribution of those materials. Overall, this 211u001ereport 1) delineates the extent and nature of UCG-related thermal alteration at 211u001ethe RM1 site, 2) suggests the thermal conditions responsible for the observed 211u001echanges, 3) develops a conceptual model based on mineralogical associations, 211u001eincluding secondary phases, to account for the observed alteration, and 4) 211u001eprovides a basis for evaluating the technical and/or environmental implications 211u001eof process:setting interactions during UCG.
