摘要

When the Congress and President Clinton teamed up to make the Violence Against211u001eWomen Act become law in 1994, the nation took a giant step forward in its 211u001erecognition of, and response to violence against women, particularly domestic 211u001eviolence, sexual assault, and stalking. This law not only strengthened criminal 211u001elaws and provided funding to enhance their enforcement, but also provided a 211u001efoundation for a successful long term criminal justice effort to end violence 211u001eagainst women. By encouraging collaboration among police, prosecutors, and victim 211u001eservice providers, the Violence Against Women Act is building a comprehensive 211u001ecommunity response to violence against women all across America.
