摘要

This report describes simulation of the water and salt budgets of Bowdoin211u001eNational Wildlife Refuge. Specifically, the report describes the application of 211u001ethe computer model developed by Hamilton and others (1989) to develop an 211u001eunderstanding of the current water and salt budgets of the refuge lakes and to 211u001eevaluate the relative merits of various proposed management strategies to reduce 211u001esalinity in the lakes. Hydrologic and water-quality data for 1990-97 and climate 211u001edata for 1972-97 were assembled and used in the model. The 1990-97 record of 211u001emeasured lake stages and specific conductance enabled calibration of the model to 211u001eensure that it adequately simulates measured records of lake stages and specific 211u001econductance. The calibrated model then was used to simulate long-term stage and 211u001esalinity variations resulting from various management alternatives.
