This decision document presents the selected remedial action for the Westerly211u001eWetlands, Northerly Wetlands, and Tar Patch Area at the Burnt Fly Bog Superfund 211u001eSite. It addresses contaminated soil present on the three remaining contaminated 211u001eareas on the Site, including the Westerly Wetlands, Northerly Wetlands, and Tar 211u001ePatch Area. The major components of the selected remedy include: Excavation and 211u001eoff-site disposal of contaminated soil from the Northerly Wetlands; Excavation 211u001eand off-site disposal of contaminated soil from the Tar Patch Area; Backfilling 211u001ethe excavated area in the Northerly Wetland and restablishing wetlands; 211u001eBackfilling the excavated area in the Tar Patch Area and creating wetlands; 211u001eProvision of additional security fencing around the Westerly Wetlands, and the 211u001erecording of a Deed Notice for the Westerly Wetlands, Northerly Wetlands, and Tar 211u001ePatch Area; Monitoring of surface water and sediment in the Westerly Wetlands, 211u001esurface water and sediment in the existing sedimentation basin located in the 211u001eDownstream Area, and surface water, sediment and, if necessary, biota in Burnt 211u001eFly Brook; and Biological sampling in the Westerly Wetlands.
