The Riverview Operable Unit (OU) of the 57th and N. Broadway site is located in211u001ethe northern portion of the City of Wichita, Kansas. The actual location of the 211u001eRiverview OU lies on a diagonal that runs from the corner of West 50th Street 211u001eNorth and Arkansas Avenue to the southwest to approximately West 46th Street 211u001eNorth and Armstrong Drive. The Riverview OU covers portions of five square 211u001eblocks. A contaminated ground water plume extends beneath this residential 211u001eneighborhood. Nearly all domestic water in the Riverview OU is obtained from 211u001eprivate wells in the contaminated aquifer. To the south of the site is the Little 211u001eArkansas River. No commercial structures are within the Riverview OU. The 211u001eapparent source of the ground water contamination is an extension of the volatile 211u001eorganic contaminant plume originating near 57th and N. Broadway. Ground water 211u001eexceeding drinking water standards for 1,1-dichloroethene (DCE), trichloroethene 211u001e(TCE), and vinyl chloride are found at the Riverview OU. These contaminants are 211u001ecurrently and historically found in the main plume.
