Codes and TCP/IP Tool Kits for Exchanging Clinical Data. Abstract, Executive211 Summary, Final Report, and Attachments A,B,C, and E

Before we can efficiently pool electronic data from multiple sources for211u001eepidemiologic, health services or direct patient care purposes, we need standard 211u001eidentifiers for test results and clinical observations. Under support from AHCPR, 211u001ethis project developed such standards and programming tools for mapping local 211u001einstitutional codes to these standards. The Logic Observation Identifiers Names 211u001eand Code (LOINC) database contains standard numeric identifiers and formal names 211u001efor more than 19,000 clinical observations ranging from serum glucose and 211u001etroponin, to EKG PR interval and abdominal circumference. The Regenstrief LOINC 211u001eMapping Assistant (RELMA) provides facilities for browsing the database and 211u001ematching local codes to these standard ones.
