Pavement preservation is a program of activities aimed at preserving our211u001einvestment in the Nation's highway system, enhancing pavement performance, 211u001eextending pavement life, and meeting our customer's needs. It is the sum of all 211u001eactivities undertaken to provide and maintain serviceable roadways; this includes 211u001ecorrective maintenance and preventive maintenance, as well as minor and major 211u001erehabilitation. It excludes capacity improvements and new or reconstructed 211u001epavements.
