Jamaica Reproductive Health Survey, 1997; Young Adult Report: Sexual Behavior and211 Contraceptive Use Among Young Adults

The 1997 Reproductive Health Survey (RHS) is the sixth in a series of periodic211u001eenquiries conducted for the National Family Planning Board (NFPB) into measures 211u001eof fertility, contraception and other reproductive heatlh issues among women in 211u001ethe reproductive age group and young adult men. The findings are used to monitor 211u001eand evaluate the effectiveness of various interventions aimed at achieving the 211u001eoverall goal and objectives of the national program. The RHS was previously 211u001ecalled the Contraceptive Prevalence Survey (CPS), a study that covered a wide 211u001erange of issues, most of them related to family planning. In light of the 211u001erecognition at the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development in 211u001eCairo that family planning is the single most important intervention in achieving 211u001ereproductive health goals, the CPS was renamed the Reproductive Health Survey. 211u001eThe RHS covered women aged 15 to 49 years and young men aged 15 to 24 years. As a 211u001eyoung adult module was included on the female questionnaire, the findings are 211u001epresented in two publications as final reports, a full Final Report and a Young 211u001eAdult Report.
