Development of River Basin Management Decision Support Systems: Two Case Studies

The subject of this study is the design and development of scenario-oriented,211u001esimulation and optimization based decision support systems for river basin 211u001emanagement. The subject of this work is approached via two case studies, i.e., 211u001etwo decision support system development projects, namely, that of StreamPlan and 211u001ethat of Rosa. The subject of StreamPlan is water quality management of river 211u001ebasins with an emphasis on the building and upgrading of waste water treatment 211u001eplants (WWTPs). The subject of Rosa is a lake or reservoir operation. The main 211u001eemphasis in this study is in the ability of a DSS to support the water resource 211u001esystem manager with as objectives information possible. The DSS approach for 211u001ewater resources management is examined and the approach of StreamPlan and Rosa is 211u001ecompared to other approaches.
