摘要

The Departments of Justice and the Treasury have different organizational211u001estructures but similar polices and procedures for handling allegations of drug-211u001erelated misconduct by INS and Customs employees. At Justice, the Office of the 211u001eInspector General (OIG) is generally responsible for investigating criminal 211u001eallegations against INS employees. GAO found that the Justic OIG generally 211u001ecomplied with its policies and procedures for handling allegations of drug-211u001erelated misconduct. At the Treasury, Customs' Office of Internal Affairs is 211u001egenerally responsible for investigating both criminal and noncriminal allegations 211u001eagainst Customs employees. Customs' automated case management system and its 211u001einvestigative case files did not provide the necessary information to assess 211u001ecompliance with investigative procedures.
