This monograph is an examination of the experience in the Pacific Northwest211u001eimplementing the Northwest Forest Plan, Economic Adjustment Initiative (NWEAI). 211u001eFirst, a brief description of the NWEAI background and framework, and a 211u001esocioeconomic overview of the region prior to the NWEAI provide the setting. 211u001eNext, accounts of the NWEAI experience in each of the three states in the region; 211u001ea chapter on the NWEAI impact on people and communities' and a review of field 211u001elevel efforts to implement business, local government, and ecosystem management 211u001eprojects build a comprehensive picture of the NWEAI programs through the eyes of 211u001ethe managers and community development practitioners who conceived and 211u001eimplemented the site specific projects. A synthesis of NWEAI related research 211u001ework begins the final section on what had been learned from the NWEAI experience 211u001eand questions still remaining.
