You asked us to provide information on three management issues confronting these211u001ecleanup programs: (1) the amount of contracts that EPA has awarded to private 211u001ecompanies that conduct Superfund cleanup activities for the agency, (2) the 211u001eextent to which EPA is using its 'Contracts 2000' initiative as a vehicle to 211u001eimprove the agency's Superfund contract management practices, and (3) our 211u001eperspective on the potential effects of transferring $25 million from the 211u001eSuperfund program's budget to the Corrective Action program's budget as a means 211u001eof increasing the number of cleanups under RCRA. The authors are issuing a report 211u001ediscussing the progress that EPA and other federal agencies have made in 211u001eresolving Superfund program management issues.
