Reinventing Environmental Protection. Executive Summary. 1998 Annual Report

1998 marked another year of steady progress in the U.S. Environmental Protection211u001eAgencys (EPAs) efforts to reinvent environmental programs. EPA began its 211u001ereinvention efforts in 1995 when President Clinton, Vice President Gore, and EPA 211u001eAdministrator Carol Browner announced a reinvention agenda to make environmental 211u001eand public health protection programs more efficient and effective. Since that 211u001etime, EPA has pursued common sense reforms and new ideas that can help us achieve 211u001enational goals, such as clean air, clean water, and better waste management. Last 211u001eyear, Administrator Browner made several strategic decisions that should advance 211u001eour reinvention capabilities even further. These decisions were milestones in a 211u001eyear when we followed through and delivered on some of our earliest reinvention 211u001ecommitments.
