Highway agencies spend a large amount of time and money annually performing211u001epartial-depth spall repairs, both as temporary and permanent fixes. Frequently, 211u001ethe repairs are not made as efficiently as desired or do not perform as long as 211u001eintended. The primary consequences are added disruption to traffic, more exposure 211u001eof patching crews to traffic, and additional maintenance expenditures. The 211u001epurpose of this study, then, was to address the merits and deficiencies of 211u001ecurrent spall repair materials, designs, and practices. The study evaluated the 211u001erelative performance of selected patching materials, as well as the effect of 211u001eselected repair methods. The study also examined repair material properties and 211u001etests that correlate well with field performance. This report documents the 211u001eentire portland cement concrete (PCC) partial-depth spall repair study, including 211u001ethe installation of 30 unique repair type (i.e., combinations of patching 211u001ematerial and patching method) at 4 different test sites, the laboratory testing 211u001eof experimental repair materials, and the 7-year performance monitoring of the 211u001evarious partial-depth repairs.
