摘要

The aim of the authors' work is to use the CHORUS experiment at CERN to measure211u001ethe strangeness content of the nucleon via neutrino induced deep inelastic charm 211u001eproduction. The strange quark distribution function has become in recent years an 211u001eincreasingly significant component of the nucleon internal structure. Charm 211u001eproduction is an important testing ground for perturbative QCD due to the large 211u001econtribution from gluon-initiated diagrams. In addition, understanding the 211u001ethreshold behavior associated with the heavy charm mass is critical to the 211u001eextraction of the weak mixing angle, from neutrino neutral-current and charged-211u001ecurrent data.
