Research Base, Rationale and Guidelines to Develop, Launch and Institutionalize211 Mature Worker Programs in Community Colleges

The major findings of this project are the guidelines or steps that should be211u001efollowed in order to develop and launch an effective older worker program in a 211u001ecommunity college based on the AoA-sponsored model developed at Grand Rapids 211u001eCommunity College. These include: institutional commitment to aging education; 211u001eaging education leadership; adequate institutional resources; cooperative working 211u001erelationships wtih key community-based agencies; cooperative internal planning; 211u001ecooperative community-based planning; assessment of employment skills; clear 211u001eexpectations for curriculum; specific job training courses; appropriate learning 211u001eenvironment; support for older learners; aggressive outreach; effective 211u001esearch/job placement; ongoing evaluation/program adjustments; and funding 211u001eoptions.
