Phase 2 Environmental Site Investigation Procedures and Technologies for Property211 Transfer and PS and E Development (Revised June 1999)

The purpose of this project is to provide TxDOT with an improved procedure for211u001econducting environmental site investigations at various stages during 211u001etransportation infrastructure development. The project seeks to identify modern 211u001eassessment technology, procedures, and regulatory requirements that can be 211u001eincorporated into a new TxDOT site assessment procedure. The major tasks for this 211u001eproject include a review of current literature for the procedural and regulatory 211u001easpects of conducting site investigations; a review of the technological and 211u001egeophysical investigative tools used in site investigations; the development of a 211u001eprocedure for conducting site investigations; and a provision for training TxDOT 211u001eengineers and planners in the use and application of the procedure. The project 211u001ewill enable TxDOT to incorporate the use of investigation techniques and 211u001eprocedures into right-of-way and design manuals and to promote a better 211u001eunderstanding of the site investigation process to TxDOT divisions and districts.
