This guidebook provides a means for practitioner to better understand and211u001eestimate bicycle and pedestrian travel and to address transportation planning 211u001eneeds. The guidebook descries and compares the various methods that can be used 211u001eto forecast non-motorized travel demand or that otherwise support the 211u001eprioritization and analyses of non-motorized projects. These methods are 211u001ecategorized according to four major purposes: (1) demand estimation; (2) relative 211u001edemand potential; (3) supply quality analysis; and (4) supporting tools and 211u001etechniques. Discrete choice models, regional travel models, sketch plan methods, 211u001efacility demand potential, bicycle compatibility measures, and geographic 211u001einformation systems are among the methods and tools described. Overview of 211u001eMethods provides a concise overview for each available method, including some 211u001etypical applications, pros and cons, and a quick reference guide on ease of use, 211u001edata requirements, sensitivity to design factors, and whether widely used.
