Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) Report: Commercial Building211 Fire Claims the Lives of Two Volunteer Fire Fighters, Mississippi, August 29, 211 1998

On August 29, 1998, two male volunteer fire fighters, a 35-year-old (Victim no.211u001e1) and a 21-year-old (Victim no. 2), died of smoke inhalation while performing 211u001eseparate tasks during a fire at a commercial building (strip mall). Victim no. 1 211u001ewas the nozzle man during an interior attack on one of the five stores comprising 211u001ethe commercial building, while Victim no. 2 was attempting to ventilate the roof 211u001eof the same store when the roof collapsed. The two fire fighters were members of 211u001ea volunteer engine company who responded to the fire at 0102 hours.
