Using Animals in Intramural Research: Guidelines for Investigators and Guidelines211 for Animal Users

The purpose of these courses is to provide information for NIH Intramural211u001ePrincipal Investigators and Animal Users that will assist them in carrying out 211u001etheir responsibilities for the humane care and use of animals used in research 211u001eprojects. Information is provided on current practices, policies and laws that 211u001eaffect the use of research animals. Additional information is provided on 211u001etechniques that are commonly used in a research laboratory when animals are 211u001ehandled and manipulated for the collection of biological samples. Literature 211u001ereferences are provided for anyone who wants to obtain further training or direct 211u001eassistance with specific procedures. These courses are presented approximately 211u001eevery eight weeks during the calendar year.
