Research and Technology Program Highlights, 1998 (Federal Highway Administration)

This report highlights the activities and accomplishments of the Research and211u001eTechnology (R&T) Program of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) during 211u001efiscal year (FY) 1998, October 1, 1997 through September 30, 1998. The first R&T 211u001eHighlights report was published for FY 1993; this report for FY 1998 is the sixth 211u001esuch report. The information for this report was gathered through interviews with 211u001ekey FHWA officials and staff. The report describes the major R&T projects and 211u001eprograms and the progress made in FY 1998 by the following Research & Technology 211u001eCoordinating Groups; intelligent transportation systems; pavements; structures; 211u001ehighway operations; safety; motor carriers; planning, environment, and real 211u001eestate services; and policy. Each project is listed according to the FHWA 211u001estrategic goal that it best advances. The report also briefly describes the 211u001emanagement structure of the R&T program.
