McGregor Range, New Mexico Land Withdrawal Renewal: Field Survey of Water211 Pipelines and Delivery Systems

Approximately 608,00 acres of land comprising the McGregor Range of Fort Bliss,211u001eTexas and New Mexico, were made available to the Department of the Army for 211u001etraining and weapons testing through the Military Lands Withdrawal Act (MLWA) of 211u001e1986. McGregor Range is a multi-purpose land withdrawal that, in addition to 211u001epurely military purposes, also supports the preservation of fish and wildlife and 211u001ecattle grazing. In order for the Army to assure the continued use of water on 211u001eMcGregor Range, it was necessary to determine the relationship between military 211u001euse and other uses of that water. The amounts of water being diverted by the 211u001eMcGregor and Oro Grande pipelines and the amounts being delivered at intermediate 211u001eand final destinations need to be documented to the extent possible by further 211u001efield survey. The survey would determine conditions (deterioration, damage, 211u001econstrictions, and water leakage) along the pipelines by visual inspection, 211u001ewithout excavating buried segments of the lines.
